Allright but not great.
Same thing with the Reacher series, pacing and story comes off a bit, I don't know if contrived is the right word, but it doesn't flow great at times.
I still binged it in two days, and the action scenes were great. A lot of the gun handling and room clearing clearly shows they were trained and choreographed by someone who knows what they're doing.
They probably could have made it an episode shorter if they cut out some annoyingly long as fuck flashback sequences, but I assume showrunners only cut deals for even numbered seasons lol.
Otherwise the action was dope and the bare faced "corporations and the government are not your friend" was great too.
I binged it over the holiday weekend and enjoyed it. I hadn't read (or even heard of) the books, so I can't comment on any changes made. I might pick them up later based on people's rec.
As far as the show goes, it had a few slow moments, but overall I enjoyed how focused and uncompromising the revenge plot went. I thought Pratt did well given the subject matter isn't his typical quirky, fun roles.
Are Amazon turning a corner? Reacher, The Tomorrow War and now this have all been decently entertaining without having Woke BS forcibly injected into it.
I never read the books but I was instantly hooked on this. which is funny, I almost didn't want to watch it because I thought it would be doggie doo doo because it was on Amazon LMAO.
The only thing I had a problem with was there were way too many flashback sequences I would have been okay with them because some of them felt like they added to the story about his mental state, like when he was getting memories wrong about situations in the Middle East, constant every episode flashback to his family in the same fucking memory was annoying by the end.
Otherwise I thought the action was amazing and it really felt like they consulted with people who knew guns, and it was good to see Pratt actually look like an operator with most of his actions movements and gun handling. It's the same reason people like John wick so much it's nice to see actual reloads and actual proper gun handling. It's a small thing but a lot of people appreciate it instead of magic guns that never need to be reloaded and have infinite ammo.
I also like that the character in the story didnt pussy foot around how he handled the situation and there were no questions about if he was a good guy or not. he was for all intents and purposes a terrorist, killing people because they fucked with him, and they didn't try to make it seem like it was anything other than that.
Including "brown" people in a show/movie doesn't make it Woke.
What makes it Woke is if those "brown" people exist to remind the white protagonist of his privilege, or to be discriminated against to show someone or something is racist.
Just like having a woman isn't Woke, unless her purpose is to have girlboss moments where she humiliates the male protagonist by being smarter and more clever than he, and beats up 230lb stuntmen with ease.
Even if the reporter character was white in the book, having her be Chinese in the show, with her anti-authoritarian personality molded by her anti-CCP father is pretty unwoke.
Absolutely none of that is present in The Terminal List. Nobody seems to give a crap what color anybody is, only if they need to die. The female characters contribute, but none of them are ridiculous girlboss badasses. Nobody emasculates the protagonist or questions his need to murder the hell out of the bad guys.
There is nary a whiff of Wokeness in this show, which alone almost makes it worth watching just to experience what that's like in these Woke times.
Any female character who isn't a housewife, isn't a girl aspiring to be a wife and mother, or doensn't have a tragic backstory as to why she isnt or couldn't be a wife and mother is a political statement. The implication is that it is good thing when women take on roles other than supporting a family.

Cool thanks! As a big reader I’ll check out the book.
Saw the show, never read the books, but thought it was one of the better ones that came out recently.
No feminism, faggotry, or overt subversion beyond "government and corporations suck" which is perfectly acceptable.
At this point I consider east asians in media to he honorary whites unless the plot or dialogue is specifically anti-white like in Warrior.
Sadly, we can't just consoom without considering this stuff but that is the burden of our times.
At this point "government and corporations suck" is more Right wing than left wing.

It's still "zogbots dying for israel, please feel bad and also More for Israel™", but that is about as good as it is going to get.
literally the first minute

You can't even remember if the FBI characters were in the book, but you're upset that they're brown.
That's not you being concerned about disrespecting the source material, or white replacement. You just don't like brown people.
so?
Hating people because of their skin color is your prerogative.
I hate people because of their character and actions.

Reality doesn't conform to your fantasy of women as nothing more than baby factories.
