In developed countries, fertility rates are highest where women are best able to combine childcare with careers and where dads do their share around the house. Men do three times as much housework in Denmark as in Korea, for example, and the fertility rate is nearly twice as high.

Generous childcare provision in Norway, which allows women to have one of the highest rates of workforce participation in Europe, has been shown to support fertility. The lowest fertility rates are precisely in those places, such as Japan, where women have fewest career opportunities and where men have the most antediluvian attitudes to nappy changing.

I like how they just claim these things are the reason for the higher fertility rates and we're supposed to nod our heads in agreement.
