In trucks it is or has become common to have onboard cameras running 24/7.
I wouldn't be surprised if the owner of the vehicle got a notification that the charger had been unplugged, at least that is how I would set these up for this very obvious reason. In fact there should be comms between the vehicle and charger anyway for battery status.
You don't have to like them but leave people's stuff alone.
