It was a shame Voat never took off because the owner ran out of money, but I do hope he comes back.

How did you drive him off?
All it took was a single comment. I joined Voat during the exodus, and I never had a leddit account before, I just lurked a few subs like half-KiA and TiA. Voat was pretty cool in the beginning, a lot of people were making an effort to make it a good place to be, there were a lot of nerds. One day I was talking to some user who told me about how in his opinion, a lot of why Reddit was bad was powerusers (e.g. Gallowboob; the tranny janny clique wasn't that prominent back then - this was all in like 2015 or so) and specifically mentioned Unidan, I haven't heard of that story before at that point. So I was like, yeah, that sounds pretty shitty, I hope it doesn't happen here too.
LITERALLY THE NEXT FUCKING DAY I see "Hi everyone, Unidan here" and the whole post was so goddamn gay I was worried semen would materialize inside my computer and short something out. So I replied to him, told him about the conversation I had the day before, and, ahem, voiced my displeasure at his queer antics on the internet. My well thought-out and reasoned post must have shown him the way because he never posted on Voat again, or at least not under that username.
Of course, I ended up leaving Voat after a few months too when I noticed the retarded Pakistani teenager I was arguing with was named "waiting_for_hitler" or some stupid shit like that and I realized the place was overrun. Such is life.
