A lot of people started using Minds because of twitter's censorship, but they aren't the same kind of platform. They serve different purposes. Gab is closer, but even that has FB-like pages, communities, and a marketplace. This is all stuff that could be linked to an open twitter protocol but then add functionality on top.
Bill Ottman is neglecting to implement NSFW searching despite demands from his userbase, and had banned lolisho under false claims it's illegal while defaming users who post it with defamatory ban messages and hypocritically allowing zoo porn simply because it's known to be legal in the US.
