Accepting bullshit behaviour from your kids isn't the bare minimum. Showing them the correct behaviour and enforcing that instead of whatever the kid happens to want at any given moment is the bare minimum. So the kid grows up knowing how to interact with other normal people.

Dumb fucks that grow up with no boundries don't understand mutual respect. They don't understand how to give it, nor what it takes to get it from others. And for that reason, they'll never be respected by anyone, including themselves, no matter how much they yell and scream that unearned respect and praise is the "bare minimum."
