I am astounded at how quickly we went from "Ru Paul's Drag Race is a thing some people apparently enjoy," to "Drag queens are the pinnacle of American culture and must be in everything all the time. Especially where kids are."
There was no slippery slope, just a plummet into a bottomless pit.

No shit! There wasn't even a gradual build up to this. Instead of A->B->C we went A->Z seemingly overnight. The craziest part is that, before the whole "kids need to be exposed to drag queens" BS, most people probably didn't have much of an issue with drag queens, likely viewing them as mostly harmless, albeit oddball, entertainers. Then they created the public's distrust and now bask in it for the oppression points. It's honestly a bizarre chain of events.
