Pride is just boring at this point. It's been almost 30 years since Matthew Shepherd was killed. A majority of Republicans support legal gay marriage today. What will it take for gay people to just call it a win and stop making a big deal out of it?
The Matthew Shepard story is just an earlier example of the government-media complex distorting a horrifying event to serve their own political and social agenda. It's just like what we saw more recently with the incidents that sparked the BLM protests of 2020.
They'll stop saying they're oppressed once society stops giving them power over their "oppressors" because they claim they're oppressed. The left has very successfully weaponized victimhood, so until that stops being true, don't expect any victimized group to ever admit they aren't victims, because that equates to giving up their power. At this point "being oppressed" is a fundamental part of their identity.
Or, to put it another way: Women make up about 2 out of every 3 college graduates, and more every year, yet nearly all gender-specific scholarships are for women. There's no point at which they'll say it's enough. It's not about equality for women, and it's not about equality for gays either, it's about power and fucking over straight white men, and it will never ever stop.
A majority of "Republican" Politicians support sodomite marriage. If you forcibly polled Republican voters (Even the newer ones who left the DNC because it got too crazy), you would likely find out that support for LGBTQWERTY is rapidly dropping, just as it is among Gen Z.

Matthew Shepard wasn't even killed for being gay. He was killed by his associates in a meth deal gone wrong.
