Before I embarrass myself by repeating ruling class propaganda: I'm not sure if this is true, but I have read that humans were originally all black and that lighter skin was an adaptation in places where there was less sunshine (and therefore Vitamin D).
You are correct. That is a scientific fact.
It took millennia and mixing with other offshoots of our primate brothers and sisters to change(Neanderthals) too.
