I told him that you have the right to change your name, crossdress, and mutilate your body to appear more like the opposite sex. What you don't have the right to do is force everyone else to participate in your fantasy.
That's really the "rights" they want- to be able to have the government force everyone to pretend that they are something they are not. That's why the school wants to punish students who "misgender" others.
