The guy killed everyone in the classroom as soon as he got in and locked the door. He was barricaded behind a reinforced steel door set in concrete. People are acting like bullets were whizzing by in the school and the other children were being fired on

I don't know if that's true, but if it is, then it's not totally unreasonable that they couldn't enter into the room without equipment.
