It implies that there's standards for getting married/ becoming a wife. Thats why this person is upset because they dont like the idea of standards for women.

they don't like the idea of standards for women.

Because all of these people believe being born female makes them inherently better. Such things as laws, basic human decency and standards don't apply to the gods walking among us!
