The Depp/Heard case is a defamation case centered on an op-ed by Heard (I guess now ghost-written by an ACLU employee) about being a victim of domestic abuse.
From a search, it sounds like she was set to pay a few million dollars to the ACLU from her divorce settlement with Depp, but ended up only giving less than half of her promised amount.
