There's honestly a question of whether endlessly pontification on the history of slavery is just a mechanism to "keep black people in their place".
When societies want intellectuals they teach them a positive backstory of their relatives being intellectuals. When societies want inventors same thing. Soldiers, same thing
When society wants slaves they teach them all about slavery.
The only racial group that's dramatically improved their incomes over the last 50 years is asians / indians. Went from average/low to near the top. You don't see them getting told their history is one of slavery.
True. It’s one thing to teach history but endlessly dwelling on it is beyond ridiculous. What drives me crazy is that you have black teenagers that will blame slavery for their problems and people don’t push back. Just using basic logic saying “my life sucks because my gg/ggg grandparents were slaves is beyond ridiculous. Almost like they want an endless crutch.
Honestly if they just taught slavery and explained it’s as old as time and moved on that would be great. If individuals want to study more then they can buy a book or go to the library. You make a great point. I never thought of it that way.
