The muscle mass you build in these few short years of your life, ~14-18, will set you up for mental well-being, higher bone density, and muscle mass. Muscle mass built early is the best muscle mass and supercharges your development.

I'd think that's a net negative and a lot of school weightlifting kills interest. Every father-son I've seen at the gym just has the kid using baby weights for years and the dad is hovering.
