I guess I'll have to check it out now. I was only mildly interested, but I find my tastes with respect to anime to be totally different than any other. I almost prefer the fun stupid stuff there. I guess because everything else that's left has to be so damn serious all the time if it's even any good at all.
If I had to venture a guess having not seen this, these people read way too much into it because their life revolves around sexualizing everything and western media does sexualize everything now. That's one of the reasons I think I came to enjoy anime, is that the extent of the sex content is like women trying to look feminine and guys gawking over it a bit. Yeah, I know there's hentai or whatever, but I'm talking about mainstream shonen/seinen stuff not digging the depths of the internet for porn art.
It's really fun. A lot of the conflict revolves around the fact that the child is a mind reader. All of the people around her have secret identities ("dad" is a spy, "mom" is an assassin, "uncle" is secret police, etc., even their dog is an escaped lab experiment) and she is the only one who knows about everyone, but she has the mental capacity of a small child. She wants to be helpful, but it's usually unsuccessful.
