While we're discussing mental health, could I get some recommendations for getting over my own shit? I've been on a winding trail of medications and counseling for about a decade and I believe I've gotten as far as I can with them.
Mine is Autism, PTSD, Crippling Anxiety, Severe Clinical Depression, Authority Issues, Suicidal Ideation, Social Retardation, Mental Trauma, Physical Ticks, that thing when one important thing goes wrong and you feel like suddenly everything is over because you've been abused a lot and are used to failure (aka Fatalism). Among other things, but that's the Reader's Digest Condensed version.
Chief among all responses to this laundry list bullshit, know thyself. Know your limits, set your goals, accept that you are flawed. It is okay to be upset. It is okay to be angry. It is okay to be happy when things go wrong. It is okay to be a fucking mess because god damn it you're a human being.
Things are bad. You can't fix it all. You can't kill people. Hurting others is not a good thing. Be who you want to be, not who people say you should be.
A relationship is not in the cards for everyone. That's okay. Fuck buddies is okay. Friends are better. Friends can just be people you hang out at work with and talk shit about and don't see outside your jobs.
Keep your word. Say what you mean. Keep it simple. The hardest part is learning to accept that life is only what we can make of what we have.
Talk is cheap. Simple actions are what makes your friends and the people around you remember and love you. Anxiety is not an adequate excuse to avoid life. If you can't just go out and do it, it's not worth doing, but the experience is all that matters.
You will never be cured, you can only function better at acceptable levels. Welcome to being Human.
