I saw the news about how the people in charge of the Halo show admitting to never playing the game, and of course on the usual sites anyone who feels an adaption should follow the source material as much as possible or respect the lore were called the usual names. I get that it seems that all these companies care about is "the message" but for the life of me I don't get why they don't just save themselves money and make their own woke garbage or adapt the books that win the Hugo/Nebula awards since the only requirement is to screech about the patriarchy or about how evil white men are. They shell out so much money for these IPs only to butcher them (Wheel of Time is on of the most recent). I would tell these companies to stop hiring activists, but that would be too difficult for them.
I can remember thinking of all the comic book characters or sci-fi/fantasy stories I used to think would be great on screen but now I hope they don't touch those characters because they will have to "update them for modern audiences". I also love murder mystery and there was a time when I would've loved to have seen the private eye genre make a comeback but not anymore.
Thank goodness for books. I remember when I first heard Amazon was doing Wheel of Time, I got the whole series and read it because I figured they wouldn't do it justice.
They want to wear the skin suit of beloved existing properties and use them to push their political ideology against all the people they hate: which means anyone to the right of Marx.
Nothing more and nothing less.
Don't assume good faith from these scumbags as they are not capable of jt.
Yep. I finally stopped falling for it. I never thought I would stop reading marvel and DC (except back issues) but like you said they only care about pushing their garbage.
Disney and Warner were both caught censoring old media to make sure it complies with regressive leftist pc culture, at this point I would look into safe sources for piracy and hardened linux distros for good measure.
Or getting physical media if you have the space for it. I recently found Blazing Saddles at a yard sale on dvd for a dollar.
