They're not doing well now, but from the sounds of things, they're going for longer term goals with VR. There is likely also a pretty healthy number of boomers/Gen X/millenials that stayed on FB or Insta that may keep the business from sinking too quickly.

I'm very bearish on this.
What they pumped out took 5 days to make. It's not a serious effort at a VR social network, it's the shoddiest little app ever made, that is 30x worse than existing and popular programs like VRchat.
Look at how awful it looks, and how few features it has. From the company that owns oculus!
It's not a serious program, it's a "oh shit, our stock has fallen, hey boomer investors look at how futuristic and cutting edge we are..." messaging campaign.
Meta with its instagram, oculus, facebook and whatsapp might live on.
Meta VR as a social media platform isn't a serious thing. I'm not saying they might not ever turn it into a serious thing. But what they have shown is clearly a rush job very suspiciously shown right after their stocks take a tumble.

Theyre a shadow arm of the government.
Theres no way theyd even be allowed to fail.
Ok but that's a different argument.
