They fear the quiet. In the silence one must face the truth of their own existence. They have no purpose, no reason, no righteous stance. They are nothing without supreme conflict to define their completely worthless existence. No talent, no desire, no drive, nothing that makes them unique or worthy of praise and adulation. Virtue Signalling is useless when everyone is doing it, but righteousness of being on the right side, the victorious, that's still something they can express and feel in their empty, jaded lives.
