I do know, and so can you. Our Mutually Assured Destruction protocol is publicly available. It lays out what will happen in the event of a nuclear launch.

The interdiction system is fucking automated, then comes conventional, non nuclear retaliation on the site it was launched from, then if further launches occur we nuke the base, if another launch occurs we nuke your nearest city, if another we nuke your capitol.

There is no "if" there would be no more political posturing to be done. Politicians want to survive as much as everyone else.
