Just going to point that Turkey is in NATO.
And the ortodox church is not as united as the catholic church. Greece, Romania and Bulgaria are ortodox and I doubt any of them want Russia to gain more power.
Also, nato won't protect Turkey. There will be an excuse, and either Russia gets what it wants from Turkey or Russia invades and nato will dither and bluster like it always does. It will probably happen as a 'peace keeping mission' under a civil war like what happened in Syria.
That is a step that Putin will not make. He will not attack NATO so careless. Either he has already made some kind of deal with China to nuke US out of existence, I find that unlikely, or he will not move against NATO.
He did not attack Ukraine when Trump was president, this tells me he does not want a world war.
Maybe US will not attack Russia but can he take that chance?
See the thing is I think NATO is willing to sacrifice turkey. They have already moved to exclude turkey from European Union and world matters. Erdogan is not playing ball and it's pissing off the EU leaders and America. This is why their country is in a financial death spiral. They are doing the same thing to Turkey as they have been doing to the Ukraine. That's why I believe Putin is actually working with the European leaders. This Ukraine invasion while it has been a complete cluster fuck seems to be pre-planned.
And by this I don't mean that the European Union wants it under Russian control. I think it was negotiated as something that Russia wanted and the European Union and maybe the United States we're willing to concede. I'm not entirely certain the United States was willing to conceive this during negotiations because Democratic and Republican leaders have so much invested in stripping Ukraine of money.
Russian Orthodox Church is only Orthodox, xaxaxa - Russia Ball.
Seriously, though, I threw that in as a wink towards their historical propaganda. Orthodox isn't united, but still holds dreams of the rise of Western Rome again. Putin is Orthodox, whether adherent or just for political reasons, it doesn't matter. It's still a political propaganda narrative for them.

I dont think NATO would sacrifice Turkey. They have major pipelines running through their country that they won't want Russia controlling.
