That's because they're cruel fucks. If they killed you straight away then you'd go out thinking all the things that you have left that will be inherited by your relatives. They don't want you to think about that. What they want is to completely destroy you as a human being, deprive you of all of your worldly possession and then leave you broken, hoping that you would off yourself.
