One of my best friends who is also a life long comic book collector (he has around 10k and I have a little over 5k) sent me a post from a website he had come across and figured I would get a good laugh. It basically was from one of the shill nerd sites saying that women make up roughly half of all comic book readers/collectors. I have a hard time believing that. I know they use that stat for video games, but when you break it down you see certain games are way more male dominated and games like Candy Crush are female dominated.
I am a big fan of Nerdrotic and he mentioned that there was a time that he actively tried to get more women to come to his store and at most the ratio was 70/30 or 65/35. That sounds more accurate. Now with Manga I don't know because I seen Manga appealing to men and women. As for hardcore collectors, I have only met one woman who had multiple longboxes (unfortunately she already had a boyfriend). Not saying they aren't out there of course, but I haven't seen them
That 50/50 ratio has to be skewed right? Or they are including Manga?
This constant push for women to get into comic books doesn't seem to have the desired effect besides pushing out the main fanbase.
Your comic shop doesnt ask you to pull out your johnson whenever you're at checkout?
