Why shouldn't someone who amassed great fortune and power through their own hard work (say, without help of a government-funded monopoly) have more of a say and influence over how the country is governed? Hierarchy is a natural part of human order.
That said, the solution is limited government with multiple levels and state organs set in opposition and kept busy enough with one another that they don't set their sights on us. I don't care how many congressmen Jeff Bezos buys if they can't make laws to limit my freedom.
