The first episode is considered good because it's telling one of the actual short stories from the books.
Everything else is shitty Twitter/Tumblr tier fanfic from the showrunners who have since flat out admitted they made the show for zero attention span, tik-tok obsessed watchers who need action every episode. So CW style drama was injected into every episode so that it was "exciting" seeing as how the second book is primarily how early GoT would have been regarding character developments.
Instead they completely fucked over several of the main characters by giving them story arcs from others, mostly all of them going to Yen because Hissenrich is using Yen as a self insert and when actually looking at the books Yen doesn't actually show up that much, so other characters suffer from a lack of doing anything while Yen ends up with multiple, conflicting arcs going on that either make no fucking sense from the book lore or just fly in the face of how the character is meant to behave in regards to BOTH the book lore and previous season settings.
