the four defendants did not contest their actions on 7 June 2020 but sought to argue they were justified, because the statue was so offensive.

They didn’t even deny they did it?? And the charges were still dropped?

Oh boy is our society fucked… fuck the judge, and fuck everyone who got these fuckers off. I guess this ruling is tantamount to saying anyone in the UK can tear down whatever property they find offensive now. Of course, if the property they damage isn’t offensive in ‘the right way’, they’ll be shit out of luck.
