Remember that South Africa has an entirely decentralized political system, in that the legislature is obviously here, in Cape Town, but the judiciary is in another city (Jo’burg, I think?), and the executive is in another (Pretoria, or the other way round)…
What that means is that el Presidente is completely insulated from this, and from whatever, in general, goes down in Cape Town…
Because of course. 🤦🏻♂️
So… I’m sure he gives less than two shits, honestly, unfortunately… 😑
Edit: Judicial capital is Bloemfontein, not Jo’burg, due to historical reasons we won’t go into here…
Jo’burg is, arguably, the “cultural and intellectual” capital, along with Cape Town, and certainly the largest city and financial centre… 🤷🏻♂️ Like New York, or Sydney, or Auckland…
Anyway, point is, SA is SUPER-decentralized (for obvious reasons, at least historically), so… This really won’t affect their batshit president much, I suspect, unfortunately…
He’ll just head back to Pretoria, and board himself up for a bit… 🤦🏻♂️
