We are rural. Two of our neighbors went out and bought real fireworks and set up a bunch of mortars and put on a 15 minute show starting about 9 pm. I guess the kids were getting cranky. It was grand.
On a smaller scale, only… Less than nine years ago. (Semi) rural, too…
Then the (oddly, theoretically “conservative”) newly-elected state government here completely banned home fireworks, and forcibly closed the stores. And the media, and most other left/centrist politicians cheered it on… 😑
Just read that the same government just banned jumping castles (you call them “bounce houses”, or something, in the US?), in schools, because some kids died recently. Once. One incident.
