I just saw some guy on another forum who barged into the Covid discussion thread and started spewing all the old talking points like an NPC that didn't get the latest update. You know, lockdowns work, if we all get vaxed it'll be over soon, that garbage. I've been cyberbullying him for the last 2 hours. I'm trying to see if I can get him to say The Line - "Two weeks to flatten the curve!"
This guy says he's a doctor at a small hospital in my country, and among the things he told us in an attempt to make some sort of a point, he claimed that while their hospital was pretty overwhelmed last year with 120+ people getting supplemental air at any given time for half a year straight, this year, thanks to vaccinations, they're averaging about 15 people in the same condition. But, he says, they still canceled planned surgeries for two months this fall.
He said that "the virus forced them to". No virus did that, this is management incompetence at best and more likely outright malice in an attempt to make the supposed pandemic seem worse than it is. This motherfucker admitted they canceled a big chunk of standard care due to a case load that was at less than 1/10th of last years, when the healthcare system didn't collapse either, that's outright criminal.
I want to just file him off as a troll but I think he might be genuine, because his account is from 2006 and before discovering the Covid thread all he ever posted was about WH40K, posting his figurines etc., so it seems weird he'd just start shitposting out of nowhere.
And it does sound possible. I do know another local hospital publicly announced that they'd be temporarily pausing all nonurgent care for the unvaxed, regardless of whether they're actually infected, citing "worsening situation". I checked the stats, they announced this on Dec 14 and our hospitalizations peaked on Dec 3 and they've been in freefall since then.
The people in charge of our healthcare policy are outright psychopaths and we need to deal with them ASAP. Good lord.
