The problem is that mental institutions have been replaced with... Twitter. Not a joke, I'm serious... that is where all the people who would've been in the mental ward 50 years ago now reside. And unfortunately, Twitter is a very public and very influential forum that has direct effects on our society at large. And because of how PC our society is, we don't like telling mentally ill people that they're mentally ill, we instead placate them because we don't want to offend them.
