An important lesson to actually listen to people not just look at their caricatures.

I hadn't heard of Cruz except the picture painted by NPR... another idiot republican. Then I heard him speak for half an hour to a farmer after an event with C-SPAN still on until the room cleared, explaining that he wanted the guy's vote but he wouldn't support ethanol subsidies since they are retarded -- meticulously laying out all the reasons why directly one on one to this guy who didn't want to hear that. After that when I heard him slighted in the media it didn't lower my opinion of him, it lowered my opinion of that media.

Same thing with Bannon, that guy's like a modern founding father but you wouldn't know it if you didn't watch some of his long-form speeches and appearances.
