I've heard a few people use "vanilla gorilla", but it's always used as a compliment to someone who is extraordinarily strong or physically gifted. Usually it's tied to a Übermensch, such as Brock Lesnar (who actually has a very high I.Q., and was a chess champion in college, in addition to being a modern-day Viking).

Even supposed insults for Whites are still complimentary.
