You're missing the point by a mile and a half.
If Taiwan falls it signals that China is free to take whatever they want.
A conquered Taiwan means that China moves onto their next target.
Not really, no. China's quite content to use soft power to simply own other people's countries, I suspect China's efforts to dominate both Japan and South Korea will be quite different to the conquest of Taiwan.
This also means that any even slightly democratic society will not have a causus bellum to use to go after China, as they're not going to be presented with a military threat.
You are wrong beyond all measure and reason.
China is already using hard, military effort to take the "South China Sea."
When Taiwan falls its just the first domino into World War 3, if something else doesn't set it off first. The very moment that China feels they can start taking land, they will.
One thing i would worry about, if china goes for japan. They will undoubtedly take their revenge for nanking and ww2. And i believe they will make the ww2 events look like a kindergarden day out in comparison.
