Humans, including the Irish, communicate with each other by creating pressure waves in the air which are picked up by small diaphragms located in our heads.
I have heard that humans also sometimes communicate by putting ink onto mashed pulp. They can then "read" this ink by using cones in their eyeballs. Fascinating stuff!
