I don't particularly mind Indians. Curry is delicious and my favorite place for lunch is an all-you-can-eat Indian buffet. Absolutely fantastic curry goat, as much as I want. Plus, even for the workers whose skill level could generously be called "subpar," they are, anecdotally by my experience, pretty hard workers overall.
That being said, at my past two jobs, the organizational update e-mails about new hires and lateral moves in upper management are a who's who of practically unpronouncable Indian names. Plus, new hires in the rank and file (specifically in IT) seem at least 50% likely to be Indian as much as all other races combined.
They are definitely extremely biased towards other Indians for hiring. As far as castes, I couldn't say. Never asked any of my Indian coworkers if they were Brahman or untouchable or whatever.
They aren't "subpar" they are fucking hopeless. Of course there's good Indian programmers but they work for Microsoft or some shit. The average corporate indian programmer adds negative value. It's fucking ridiculous. These clueless CEOs hire more and more because they work cheaper while their IT infrastructure crumbles under them.
It doesn't help that they all have indecipherable accents.
I have straight up vetoed an Indian candidate before because I needed a DBA I could communicate with and the incompetent Chinese man we had in the role already was also useless due to being unable to communicate in addition to his general incompetency.
