We are just plucky underdogs resisting our oppressors." Uighur separatists have committed quite a few terrorist attacks over the decades (including three in the three months leading up to China's crackdown) and the last time they had their own state they exterminated their Christian minority, but you wouldn't know that from listening to the media, politicians or activists talk about them.
