Possibly hates his "bigoted" constituents and is trolling them by taking their requests to the extreme.

But Just Some Guy is being biased and spreading misinformation, which isn't the first time for him. He's taking the article at face value. The letter literally says "requesting preliminary information". It's basically a search request. Not a request to remove those books. They probably intend to go through the list and find ones they want to remove.

And while I think "banning" books is stupid, school libraries aren't repositories of all knowledge. Removing a book from the school library isn't censorship. The student can go to a public library if they want more information.
