I would say both universities and establishment media are the big fortresses that keep them in power. We won't win unless we do something about media. If you look at South America for example, even when right-wing leaders get in power the media keeps pushing lies about them and encouraging popular uprisings.

This is a culture war, and whoever has the best propaganda arm will win.

I'm not sure what the perfect solution is. All options have downsides.
