As someone who is cursed to be a downstate IL resident, can confirm. If one looks at the county election maps from 2020 it's pretty evident that aside from a couple of liberal enclaves, everywhere outside Chicago and the collar counties is solid red. Despite that, whatever Chicago wants, Chicago gets, because that overpopulated shit hole is packed to the overflow with the unholy combo of liberals and their pet minorities.
