The truck driver's an interesting case. I mentioned in another post, but what seems likely to happen is he'll have the same sort of Heritage Foundation and Better Business Bureau staffers assigned to him as every other politician, and they will make sure he "understands" the issues.
That is another thing the left is good at: the most boring centrist democrat will have staffers who are members of the Socialist Party writing policy papers and opinion pieces. And likely advising on how to vote on bills. Probably gets ignored 90% of the time, but over time it shifts the Overton Window.
Though of course the left gets away with it more easily: it would be much harder for a republican to have someone on staff who had worked at American Renaissance for example.
