The judge is a boomer conservative who believes that the culture war is a myth and that lefties are entirely rational and sane actors who just make occasional oopsies.

That said, the prosecution is SO insufferable that he's done with a lot of their shit, and has said if they keep it up, he'll put THEM on trial for contempt of court for making a mockery of his courtroom. Things like trying to insist that the right to remain silent is not in fact a right and therefore Kyle is guilty because he waited for a lawyer before he talked. Or submitting doctored evidence. Or badgering on questions the judge already forbid him from asking.

Infinite warnings, no punishments, though, because boomer judge thinks this extremist leftist is just a moron, instead of not acting in good faith (even though when the judge says "this isn't a political trial", the prosecution rolls his eyes and makes a stupid face at the judge).
