Ben Affleck and Matt Damon did that with the script to Good Will Hunting including a completely out of left field gay sex scene between two of the characters in the film that only one studio producer asked about showing the script had actually been read.
That producer was Harvey Weinstein however so it's not a tale that gets told often these days 🙄
