From the bank. Come on now…
This is just… Indefensible, at this point.

Also, who the fuck decided “jab” was an appealing word for it..?? I know it’s absolutely fucking everywhere now, but come on… Jab. Just the word sounds creepy and violent and dystopian. shivers Why not call it what it (supposedly) is, a vaccine? Or better yet, a vaccine DOSE? Or just “dose”? Anything but “jab”..?
No one actually likes that word, surely..? Not even the fucking cargo cult freaks who pretend to love all this shit. Surely??!
I suspect they focus-grouped "injection" and found that people reacted negatively to it, so they came up with a different word. "Jab" is probably actually the most positive word they could come up with for describing the act of getting an injection.
But it’s worldwide, though..?
Seems more like they maybe did that somewhere (say the US, or UK), and then just rolled with that across the whole Anglosphere…
To me, at least, it sounds awful… “Dose”, is far less offputting. For me, anyway…
6uild 6ack 6etter!
Well, yeah, by "they" I meant some pharma PR division or the CDC or someone.
I could come up with some explanation, like "Jab at least describes an injection while dose is a broader term, so they go with 'jab' because they find too many people would reject 'dose' as inaccurate and fall back to 'injection', which they are trying to avoid", but I am happily not a PR focus group guy, so I don't know. But when an unusual word suddenly starts being used by everybody to describe some politically charged thing everyone used to use a different word for, I think it's safe to assume some PR opinion-manipulation is behind it all.
It's some weird linguistic import from Europe as far as I can tell. I stick to calling it an injection because that's what it is and because it makes it sound less innocuous.
Guess I’m just not a fan of the “euphemism treadmill”, if we can even call this a euphemism… 😒
It’s always toxic. Especially in this case, where that’s more, uhh, literal…
"Jab" diminishes and normalizes it. "Injection of experimental gene therapy treatment" doesn't sound as harmless and commonplace as "vaccine jab."
Jab is a silly word that sounds fun and is no big deal.
Presented by "nab." They want to rob and kill you.
Sadly, though it does rhyme (only one letter different), NAB predates “coof jab” by around forty years or so, lol…
National Australia Bank. Though no one calls it by its full name. Even the company itself.
Though I see what you did there, and I must admit, it is amusing that even they probably didn’t think of that!!
