No. Trump delegated. He took the recommendations at face value, and he nominated ACB because “it has to be a woman”. That’s fucking straight up bad judgement.
He literally asked a crowd of people whether the nominee should be a man or a woman. When the crowd at the rally cheered for woman, he called the men in the group cowards, but he picked a woman obviously.
If you want to blame someone, it should be Trump voters, because that is who he listened to.
They wouldn't have let Trump appoint any Supreme Court judges if they weren't sure the judges were deep state pawns.
