How the actual fuck did the trans community, who are less than 1% of the population, convince the general populace that they need to be catered to and pandered to?
They didn't need to do any convincing imo. Companies have been pandering to gays and minorities for decades now, and they really ramped it up after Trump got elected.
They were never going to just leave it at that. It was no longer special or unique. They needed a new group to pander to and transgenders were the logical choice.
I never gave a fuck about trans until recently. In the 90s there was a M2W trans person at the place I used to get my hair cut at. In the early 2000s I had a W2M trans co-worker. Never cared about either of them. I treated them like I treated everyone else.
Now I fucking hate them. They are one of the most privileged groups now. Nobody is allowed to say anything bad about them (Dave Chappelle is right, btw). Businesses have had to change policies for them. Major corporations pander to them. They are over-represented (relative to their actual demographics) in popular media.
