Why is the first reaction to a good book/comic/manga, "THIS NEEDS TO BE A MOVIE!"

Because hope of a good adaptation? Not everything is about woke or stupid shit. Sometimes, we want to see and experience it in live format.
I thought they were pretty faithful to the source material in the new movie.
I wouldn't know, the woke casting destroyed any hope I had.
Lady Atreides casting is stellar, she's a perfect fit. Paul is a weakling, but he's meant to be. I didn't really have any huge issues with the casting. Dr Yueh is stellar casting also. Who did you take issue with? Kynes? That's the only one I can take major issue with.
Because Hollywood is at this point utterly devoid of any ideas of their own, apart from which children they intend to molest that evening?
Because people are lazy and would like to see things played out before their eyes rather than undertake any effort on their own part to engage with it beyond simply sitting and watching.
I remember when Metal Gear Solid released in 1998, Official Playstation Magazine was immediately inundated with letters from people saying it needed to be a movie. Despite it containing a movie's worth of cutscenes and codec calls as is!
People are lazy, visual creatures.
They want to experience it as more real, fantasy become reality in a movie. at least, for fans. Companies want the dollars, want them BAD, and don't want some other company snatching up the IP or box office with something else.
Is it? I can't recall ever hearing anyone say X should be a film. Maybe it's a zoomer thing?
