Casablanca and the Connery + Lazenby + first Dalton Bonds are a pretty good bet, honestly…
Black Narcissus. A Matter of Life and Death. Both British, so be a bit open minded…
And fuck, there’s a tone of good Euro-cinema out there. If you can deal/put up with subtitles. Plus good Mexican, South American and of course Japanese shit. Plus a few good Bruce Lee and (less so) Jackie Chan movies… The older ones, that is, at least, for Chan…
TV-wise, the original Mission Impossible series is alright, but The Avengers (not Marvel. It PREDATES Marvel, is completely unrelated, and is spies, rather than capeshit), which is British, is way, way better…
Oh and My Favorite Martian, if you’re looking for some early-60s (decent) comedy fluff…
There’s a list of stuff I’ve been watching lately (mostly the old stuff), to start you off, at least! 🙂
But really most things prior to, say, 2008-2009, you should be relatively better off…
Even Craig’s Casino Royale was at least… Decent. Haven’t really liked ANY of the ones since, though, to be honest… Skyfall is passable, I suppose, but fuck the other three, lol… And Brosnan’s Bond hasn’t aged as well as I might have hoped, honestly… 😑
Oh also, Run Lola Run, if you’re looking for something… Weirder/experimental-ly, but still good…
German, with subtitles, though…
I’ll watch the (free, thank fuck) SBS World Movies channel here, again, a bit more, while I convalesce, and see what else I can find/come up with that you and others here might enjoy. 🙂
Source Code is more confronting. The Adjustment Bureau is more… Sci-Fi adventure. Like Vanilla Sky (or, arguably, Donnie Darko to an extent) but way less depressing.
Would recommend either of those very much, if you haven’t seen/heard of either of them yet!!

Two more: The Adjustment Bureau and Source Code.
Both American. Both mid-2000s. Both excellent.

Great list, thank you! I'll check some of these out. Old British Avengers sounds really interesting.
