Probably has something to do with years of any semblance of male sexuality being demonized as "toxic," "misogynistic", "fueling rape culture" and so on. Not to mention all the feminist single moms raising their sons to be ineffectual simps.

This happened quite a bit in church circles too, eg the whole "Purity Culture" craze the evangelicals had in the 90s and 2000s, feminist interpretations of scripture, etc.

Men being taught from the earliest ages that completely normal behavior and feeling is wrong and evil. Fun stuff.
