Anyone read the original graphic novel? I heard it wasn’t so bad but the time we live in is the worst time to adapt it. I heard the same about Handmaids Tale book.
Handmaid's Tale isn't a bad read. The prose is well written and the character, while being "feminist", is interesting, genuine, and provides a deep, believable point of view. My biggest complaint with the book is that most of the story is told in narrative summary or hectic flashbacks. Not much happens in real time.
As for Y: The Last Man. The protagonist is the typical weak, bumbling idiot, you see in most modern media, but the female characters are all deeply flawed and the world turns into a hellish dystopia when all the men die. Don't take my word for it though, I read the series years ago and when I wasn't as red pilled as I am now.
